Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated 17 June 2026
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what is and isn't permitted when using Simply Local Hosting services, so our network stays safe, legal and reliable for everyone. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
2. Prohibited content
- Content that is illegal under Australian law.
- Child sexual abuse material or content exploiting or harming minors.
- Content that infringes intellectual property rights, including pirated software and copyright-circumvention tools.
- Material that is defamatory, harassing, or violates another person's privacy.
3. Prohibited activity
- Spam, phishing, or distribution of malware.
- Unauthorised access attempts, port scanning, or other network abuse.
- Open mail relays, open proxies, or anonymising services.
- Activity that degrades performance or stability for other customers.
4. Email & anti-spam
You must comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Do not send unsolicited commercial email. Bulk/marketing email must use verifiable opt-in consent and include a working unsubscribe mechanism.
5. Security responsibilities
Keep your applications, themes and plugins up to date, use strong passwords and set correct file permissions.
6. Resource usage
Shared hosting is intended for normal website use under a fair-use basis; excessive or sustained resource consumption (CPU, memory, long-running processes) may require an upgrade to a larger plan or a move to dedicated resources elsewhere.
7. Enforcement
Depending on the severity and frequency of a breach, we may issue a warning, suspend the service, or terminate it — immediately where necessary to protect our network, customers or to comply with the law.
8. Reporting abuse
